Though it's unconfirmed, I'm still kind of shocked by this.

dude was useles, cant fight, sucked in the d zone, barely threw his weight around on top of the fact that his hands were made of stone. this team has enough players like him.

getting rid of Pat K would be the most retarded move ever... His job is to provoke the other team into taking a penalty and let our power play/special teams score some goals.. hes great at his job.

Yep. He draws penalties like a magnet draws iron. He does exactly what he's supposed to do, get under the other team's skin until they freak out and do something stupid. If he was on another team, I'd hate him with a passion, but he's here, and I love him.

Anyway, Mair was basically useless, he couldn't score, he couldn't skate, he had terrible hands, and he wasn't tough enough to be a heavyweight in this league. The only problem I have with this is that now we have no one on this roster who is capable of fighting consistently at an NHL level, but since this league appears to be phasing out fights, it might not even matter. Hopefully we use Mair's money to pick up a backup goalie who can actually play. Marty would be perfect, actually, and I'm pretty sure he'd love to come back.

Im sure his tens of ice can be used for someone who does more than draw a penalty or two. i can only think of one game where he did provoke a team into taking penalty and it was the wings game. i dont see his style of play being anything to write home about and wanting him on your team. his game is so inconsistent one game he does hit someone and draw a penalty. than the next 10 he seems to just ride the bench.

over the past 3 seasons kaleta averages the most amount of penalties drawn per 60 minutes of ice time by a wide margin. he is good at what he does.

Kaleta is getting minimal salary. For his price he's definitely worth having on the team.

Didn't he set some sort of NHL record by drawing 5 or 6 penalties alone in that Phoenix game? Watch him back check and how he plays in the defensive zone. He'll always go down to block a shot. I like his game a lot actually. He's known as a hitter but he does the little things well like Matt Ellis.

I really like the Sabres 3rd and 4th lines actually. It's the two top lines that are lacking.

I don't know why he have Pominville. This guy is a waste product. He fans on almost every shot/pass. He's looked horrible on the PP.

Vanek goes in streaks. He was benched most of the 3rd period in the Boston game.

Anyone notice they don't really dump in the puck and go retrive it like they did in the start of the season? So many turnovers in the neutral zone because of this is costing them.

Rivet > Mair as far as the fighting category goes.

I don't think the NHL will ever be able to get rid of fights completely. They attract way more than they repel.

And honestly, who doesn't love a good fight/brawl every now and then?

Kaleta is the most exciting player on the team.

there were 8 fights lastnight in the 6 games that were played, 4 of which were in one game. fighting isnt being phased, if all you watch is Buffalo Sabres hockey, you might think that since they have 7 fighting majors (3 of whihce came from the Boston game Saturday) on the season, the Flames lead the league with 16.

I couldn't find the last 3 seasons, but this year Patrick Kaleta drew 10 penalties in the first 15 games, while only taking 1. That's 5.7 drawn/60 minutes played. That's the best ratio in the NHL right now as far as I can find.
