If you're looking for pure stay-at-home defensemen, Rod Langway was probably the best. The man edged out Paul Coffey for a couple Norris' trophies, well after Robby Orr made it popular to rush the puck.

Mike Ramsey was great. He had a career +/- of +218, and 345 points in 1070 games played. He was always solid on the Sabres.
