rippedoffface wrote: Rumors swirl of Jason Campbell trade Posted by Michael David Smith on February 25, 2010 1:58 PM ET Rumors of trades and free-agent signings abound every year at the NFL scouting combine, but most years the sports writers at the combine don't share those rumors with their readers until they move out of the "rumor" category and actually become news. So it was a little surprising (and refreshing) to read Jason Reid of the Washington Post write today about a rumor that he and Jason La Canfora of NFL Network "both were busy checking out" in Indianapolis. Reid writes that the rumor is that the Redskins would send quarterback Jason Campbell to the Buffalo Bills for safety Donte Whitner and a draft pick. The rumor isn't actually likely to come to fruition, and the Redskins are indicating publicly that they plan to bring Campbell back. Still, Reid writes that he wouldn't be surprised if Campbell isn't back with the Redskins in 2010. Campbell becomes a restricted free agent next week, and the Redskins are expected to tender him an offer of $3.268 million, which would entitle them to first- and third-round draft picks as compensation if he signs elsewhere. I'm the first to admit that Whitner is nothing special, but Whitner and a draft pick for a QB that looks like a bust? Seems like some Redskins fan is dreaming. I'm sure it's a first round pick too. |

I'd be okay with picking up Campbell as a stop gap QB while we bring along a rookie, but only if the Skins released him, I wouldn't trade for him. Back to Vick, he's the same height as Drew Brees, I don't think he's on Brees level, but just thought I'd point that out. what is the over/under on Georgia Tech players drafted by the Bills this year? |

Is Campbell better than Edwards? If you say yes unequivocally, you're lying to yourself. It's a lateral move at best. |

The rumor has pretty much been shot down, but I think Campbell is miles better. 3,618 yards, 61.2%, 20td, 15 int That was with both starting tackles, a starting guard, and Chris Cooley out for the year. Not to mention Portis and Betts both injured. Edwards had an equally terrible line, but, better WRs and RBs. He had horrendous stats and can't stay healthy. |

You're missing one comparative point that is hugely in Campbell's favor: coaching. Jim Zorn was a former quarterbacks coach brought to Washington to groom Campbell. Dick Jauron is a defensive coach who has never coached a good offense in his career....IN HIS CAREER. I'm also not going to concede that the Bills' receivers are that much better than the Redskins' receivers. Fred Davis is a better tight end than anyone on the Bills. Santana Moss is the most explosive receiver between the two teams and I'm not sure if Moss and Randle El aren't a better combo than Evans and Owens at this point in Owens' career. I'd also take Devin Thomas and Malcolm Kelly over Josh Reed and Roscoe Parrish. I'm no expert on line play, but it's awfully hard for me to imagine any offensive line being worse than the one that the Bills fielded this season. |

I'm glad nfl.com has been showing the combine, this year's linebacking class looks good, and if the Bills are going to the 3-4, there are plenty of guys who can step in, (although they'll probably just take a guy from Penn St.) |

Do you think 9 would be too early for him? If Bradford and Clausen were off the board and with all the depth at LB, DL, OT in the draft it'd be sweet if they could manage to trade down and get more picks. The only way I'll be upset this year is if they choose a CB, interior o-lineman or a RB with the first pick, we need sooo much help that they could take the best available player and it'd work for me. PS - Buddy swoop in and sign Jamal Williams! |

I don't think Weatherspoon is a top 10 talent, but I think he's definitely a first rounder. I would love to see them trade down and get more picks, or trade up for Suh. |

If they get him in the third round or later, I'm ok with the pick. |

Is anyone not surprised that the Bills have been pretty much inactive this offseason, where teams are no longer bound by the cap, look at all the players they didn't even attempt to sign: TE Brandon Manumaleuna LB Karlos Dansby LB Scott Fujita T Tony Pashos NT Jamal Williams T Adam Terry DT Justin Bannan I think my decision to renew my season tickets is going to be based on what they do in the draft (I will go ape shit if they somehow land Clausen). Does anyone else think that Colt McCoy kind of looks Corky from Life Goes On? |

Does anyone else think that Colt McCoy kind of looks Corky from Life Goes On? You know what other teams have done almost nothing in free agency this off-season? About 25 other teams in the league. There just weren't that many quality free agents out there on the market this off-season because of the CBA stuff. I mean, Julius Peppers was the crown jewel of free agency and he probably has a solid two good years left, if that. Then you're talking Dunta Robinson and Karlos Dansby, after which there's a pretty big drop off in talent. So, the three best players were a 4-3 defensive end, a 4-3 linebacker and a CB. The Bills need none of those things. The rest are a bunch of scraps. Justin Bannan was a scrub when he was here the last time. Jamal Williams is old. The free agency pool is pretty bleak and I for one don't fault the Bills for sitting on the sidelines with most of the rest of the league. |

I'll give ten to one odds to anyone who wants to bet on Jake Delhomme turning around the Browns. Good job Holmgren. |
